Privacy in CloudyDupe

CloudyDupe reads your files in order to copy them to the destination you select, and that is the whole of its business with your data. This page summarizes what that means in practice. The full policy, which governs, is the Vertolini privacy policy.

Your files and photos

CloudyDupe creates a local copy of your iCloud Drive files and, with purchase, your iCloud Photos, saved to a folder or drive you choose. It reads your files and photos only to copy them to that destination.

It does not upload your files or photos anywhere, and it never sends the contents of your files or photos to us. There is no CloudyDupe cloud storage, and there is no account to create.

Access is granted by you, folder by folder, through the standard macOS file picker. The app is sandboxed and can reach only what you have selected.

Analytics are optional and anonymous

Analytics are off until you agree to them. If you opt in, CloudyDupe sends only anonymous, non-identifying data: a randomly generated device identifier, counts and sizes of files and photos (never their names or contents), error types, and your app and macOS version. It is used only to understand and improve the app.

You can turn analytics off at any time in Settings, and withdrawing consent is recorded as such.

Problem reports are never automatic

CloudyDupe includes an optional Report a Problem feature. A report is never sent by itself: you write a description, review on screen exactly what will be sent, and choose whether to send it.

A report may include your device identifier, app and macOS version, purchase status, app configuration and status counts, error details, and information about your destination drive such as its format and free space. By default it also includes the names of files and folders that failed to copy, because those names often explain why a copy failed on certain drive formats. One toggle excludes them before sending.

CloudyDupe never collects, transmits, or stores the contents of your files or photos. It sends only the diagnostic details described here, and only when you choose to send a report.

Purchases

Purchases are handled by Apple. CloudyDupe does not receive or store your payment details.
